What do I consider a good "shaving soap?"

It might not be marketed as a shaving soap, it could be triple milled, or cooked up in someone's kitchen. But it has to have creamy, rich lather with tight bubbles to create a layer of protection between my razor and my skin. It has to have "slip," so that my razor glides effortlessly and I'm not tempted to apply any pressure while shaving. It cannot leave me feeling squeaky clean, I want my skin to feel conditioned by the end of my shower and not "thirsty," running to slather something on it immediately to relieve my skin of that tight feeling. 

Making something with your hands is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world, so naturally, during these long hours at home during the lockdowns, I started day dreaming about what I could accomplish, and my thoughts turned to something I've always wanted to learn- soap!

Using locally sourced ingredients, like fresh raw goats milk and grass fed beef tallow, I created my first line of men's shaving products. Then, when I had mastered a soap formula, I began learning perfumery, and launched my own original fragrance blends and unique artisan perfumes in 2022. Finally, in order to complete the offering, I created a skin care line with premium skin safe ingredients for pre and post shave. 

The end result is Elysian Soap Shop, featuring soaps, fragrances, and skin care products that I'm happy to spend time with in those few precious moments of privacy and self care in the bathroom every day.
